Verdicchio Vigneti del Cerro 2011

Verdicchio di Metalica, Italy
www.belisario.it

100% verdicchio

Tasted September2013- Sometimes a direct and focused glass is called for, to wake the senses and change the mood. Refreshment as the first call. This Verdicchio hits the spot with noticeable vibrancy, a see-through complexion and long-lasting stimulation. The zest of grapefruit marries into a fresh, orchard apple, decorated with floral aromas and a final, sea-salt & ginger-spiced mineral. There is not much to the substance of this wine at first. It takes some coaxing, a bit of hand-holding to warm the wine into more fruit expression. At this stage, the sense of wild honey joins the presentation. Time brought out a bit rounder, more creamy feel, but the tension of acidity kept it in line. Uncomplicated purity. Classic crisp structure. Solid, honest and delicious Verdicchio. This is a large winery, founded as a cooperative, which creates many wines with many labels. This Belisario series is meant for finer consideration and has potential to last a few good years in the bottle. As is mentioned at the winery, "in our opinion, the stereotype of Verdicchio di Matelica power and elegance, flavor and smoothness, maturity and freshness."
